The new role of technical professionals in Public Administration

The new role of technicians in the Public Administration (PA) within the AECO sector (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Management) is undergoing a radical transformation thanks to (or in spite of) the digital transition and Building Information Management (BIM/BIM). The public technician is no longer just a person in charge of managing paper documents, but has become a manager and validator of digital and parametric data. The main changes for PA technicians are: Mandatory disclosure specifications: technicians must prepare specifications and specifications based on open and interoperable digital standards (such as the IFC format). The use of ACDat (CDE) requires the management of data exchange environments to transparently track and archive every phase of public works projects. Governance, key roles, training, BIM Manager, BIM Coordinator or CDE Manager should all contribute to better compliance monitoring, and CAM should be used to verify digital projects according to Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) and energy and acoustic regulations directly in 3D models. And let’s not forget Artificial Intelligence in the public sector. Will we be able to manage everything?
